Introduction to Competition provides the opportunity for students to learn about the different types of pistol competition including, Steel, IDPA and USPSA. This class will be for women only and taught by women keeping in line with Girlz N Guns Mission to provide a non judgmental, non intimidating, friendly, comfortable environment where women can continue to build confidence. Students will learn the general rules, etiquette and safety of the sport as well as shoot through some mini stages.
WARNING! We can not be held accountable for any addiction to the sport that may occur during or after the class!
Pre req for this class: This is not a "brand new" shooter class. You will need to already have solid, SAFE gun handling skills. ( be able to load, unload, rack, lock slide open and be able to put hits on a target) If you have questions about your skill level.. just ask me! You are probably ready! Just do it! This is a very friendly class!
Cost: $110 +$20 range fee
$45 deposit to reserve your spot. Balance of $65 to be paid on day of class +range fee
What you will need:
Center fire hand gun ( a .380, or compact gun will be OK for this class although smaller guns are more difficult to shoot and learn on. We prefer full size guns for newer shooters. Most competitors use full sized guns, however, there are SOME competitions specifically for what we call "back up guns" or small guns) You CAN use a .22 for this class but You will not draw from a holster.
Minimum of 2 magazines and magazine holders ( or you can use pockets)
A strong side holster ( Kydex, and covers the trigger completely and made for your specific firearm) OWB ( outside the waistband) No inside the waitband holsters. If you need to borrow one, please ask and we will see if we can accomodate you! If you don't have a holster, you can still participate from what we call "low ready".
NO SERPA HOLSTERS ( requires you to press a button to release tension)
Sturdy belt ( you don't NEED a special belt just make sure it is the same width as the holster so that the holster is not able to slide or wiggle around)
Eyes and ears ( Preferably electronic)
Brimmed hat
Ammo ( round count approx 150)

*Refund Policy: Full Refund with 30 days cancellation notice. 29 to 18 days cancellation notice a credit will be issued for another class within the calendar year. Less than 17 days and no show will result in forfeit of deposit and no credit.
If the class is cancelled due to weather or un forseen circumstances, we will issue a refund.
